Fancy Creek Township
Fancy Creek Township is located in Sangamon County, Illinois. The township was organized in 1861 and named Power in honor of George Power, one of its earliest citizens. The name was changed on September 11, 1861.
As of the 2010 census, its population was 5,410 and it contained 2,074 housing units. The township annexed the eastern half of Salisbury Township in 1989.
According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 47.07 square miles of which 46.97 square miles (99.79%) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.21%) is water.
The Sangamon River, Cantrall Creek and Fancy Creek run through the Township.
